The Hide Collection - Care Instructions for Rugs
Castelluxe’s rugs are crafted to the same sage standards, and yet each is unique.
Why, you may ask?
Leather is a natural commodity, and as such, there are natural variances in each hide’s grain patterns, surface textures, color, dye lots, and markings. These variances are what makes natural leather so beautiful and are certainly not imperfections. Considering leather is made from butter-soft hides, it needs to be treated with proper, delicate care. Light and subtle shades need extra care, as they tend to soil more quickly. Another helpful hint is that these products are intended for low traffic and should avoid placement in high-traffic areas. If you give leather proper care and nurturing, in return, the leather will give you warmth and style for years to come.
What should I do when I receive my rug?
When considering placement, be sure to avoid direct and continuous exposure to sunlight. Upon arrival, roll out your rug and allow time for it to settle in.
How should I vacuum my rug?
Regular vacuuming is recommended to avoid dust and crumbs from collecting in the roots of the fibers. When vacuuming, be sure to always use the standard floor head and never the rotating brush as it may cause damage. Keep in mind that regular rotation prevents uneven wear patterns, so rotate your rug throughout the year.
There’s been a spill, what should I do?
When it comes to spot cleaning, leather and water don’t mix. Therefore, remove liquid spills immediately by blotting with a clean, un-dyed cloth, pressing firmly around the spill to absorb as much of the spill as possible. Never rub wet spots. For hard-to-remove stains, professional cleaning is recommended. If you have the misfortune of damaging your rug, reach out to us immediately, as we can advise you on critical next steps.
How should I store my rug?
If you should need to store your rug, roll it from the front side out and wrap it carefully in cloth for protection. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area.
